Head of Product (Payments) is responsible for developing and implementing payment product strategies that serve both banks and their SME clients within Fortis ecosystem. This role focuses on creating comprehensive payment solutions that help financial institutions attract and retain SME customers while ensuring effective monetization the Fortis platform for both banks and merchants.
Key Responsibilities:
Product Strategy & Ownership
Translate high-level strategy from VP of Payment Solutions into an actionable roadmap
Determine optimal operating model (ISO, PTSP, Orchestrator, Aggregator, Acquirer, MOR) for business objectives
Define the value proposition and structure the product offering (Pay SDKs, POS apps, terminals, APIs)
Validate product-market fit through fast MVP iterations and structured discovery process.
Own the end-to-end product lifecycle for payment solutions targeting banks and financial institutions
Roadmap Execution & Delivery
Build and maintain a clear, outcome-driven product roadmap for the B2Bank vertical
Lead the product team in delivering high-quality releases with fast time-to-market
Collaborate closely with engineering, design, and partnerships to align priorities and ensure cross-functional delivery
Integrate payment infrastructure with Fortis’ platform and ensure scalability for new markets
Product-centric Development
Adapt product features and configurations to support the needs of diverse banking partners
Enable customization and modularity to meet compliance and operational models across regions
Ensure seamless integration with bank systems and user journeys
Financial Efficiency
Achieve target commission income indicators according to the VAS & Payments strategy
Optimize unit economics of payment products
Manage P&L for the payments direction
Manage tariff competitiveness and profit margins
Team & Partnership Building
Hire and help to develop expertise in payment technologies, acquiring, BNPL, embedded finance
Develop relationships with key payment partners and technology providers
Develop team competencies in modern payment trends and technologies
Who we're looking for:
Experience in the MENA region
Experience in managing payment products and teams for 7+ years in fintech/PSP/banking
Deep understanding of payment technologies, acquiring, various operating models (ISO, PTSP, Aggregator, Acquirer)
Practical experience scaling payment processing and building a commission-based monetization model
Knowledge of modern payment systems architecture, APIs, tokenization, fraud prevention
Experience working with the SMB segment
Experience with data analytics and product economics (unit economics, CAC, LTV, retention)
Practical experience implementing A/B testing and data-driven approach
Understanding of payment product unit economics (interchange, processing fees, scheme fees)
Nice to have:
Experience working with regulators and obtaining payment licenses in the MENA region or similar jurisdictions
Experience working with enterprise clients
Experience building partnerships with processing centers and payment systems
